Water Purification

Its Need:

From the past few decades due to advancement in technology, the global population is increasing at an alarming rate. This rapid growth brings new challenges like supply of food, sufficient resources and most importantly water conservation. Water conservation is a serious problem to solve nowadays in populated countries (including Pakistan). Here we came up with the idea of purifying sewage water to reuse the water, thus keeping in mind the three R's we made this water purification model.

This project supports the concept of sustainability.

This means the materials used are recycled materials and can last very long.

The Process:

This basic model typically includes the following steps:

Filtration – Water passes through layers of sand, gravel, and charcoal to remove large particles and impurities.
Sedimentation – Allowing water to sit so that heavier particles settle at the bottom.
Passing Through Cotton – Ultimately the water passes through cotton which is good at absorbing liquids. Here the water stays a while then is flown towards the next container. The cotton catches the remaining dust particles and other polluted things.
UV Rays – Finally, the water passes through the UV radiation tank which removes microorganisms specially bacteria.
Collection – The water is then stored in a tank, ready to be used again.

Note: This is a very basic water treatment model, thus it is not capable of removing all microorganisms or 100 percent purify the water.

This water purification model uses an emerging technology which includes the laws of Physics and Chemistry and uses the concept of Three R's. It can be made at home and requires less materials.

By using these kind of projects, we may make our Earth a much safer place to survive and live peacefully without problems.
